What I think Art is!

Art I believe is different to everyone. There is no clear definition to art. Art is somewhat of an emotion/emotions.They help express feeling by using color and the use of imagination. Art is our imagination on paper that we can express. Art is limitless which means that art will probably never end. Art is so wide based to the beginning of time with the cave men and their cave drawings to our new advanced art of technology like computers, phones, laptops, etc. No art is bad because art is whatever you want it to be and anyone can be an artist. Color is a big part of art. It shows the true meaning of the piece and makes us think if the piece is sad by the colors of blue, black, purple, or other cool colors. We can tell if the piece is happy or excited by warm colors like red and yellow that are bright and cheery! I love art because you can express all of your feeling just by painting it or drawing it! Art is a stress reliever to me and it helps to have it as a class in my schedule! :)

Antique Keys

My Second Project consisted of antique keys that make up my name. I used the colors of purple and lime green to match my room. I got this idea from looking up antiques and it came up with antique keys and I thought it would be a good idea to do a cool project on it!! I hope to be able to hang my project in my room. I thought this piece was really fun to paint and I would definitely do it again sometime!

Artist- Edwin Henry Landsee

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edwin_Henry_Landseer

Edwin Henry Landsee is a great artist that specializes in painting/drawing animals. He is an inspiration for my art because i really like drawing different animals. He is very detailed in his drawing and he is very critical on his work. He makes his artwork have and effect that surrounds the whole room and make it seem like the animals are actually there. Which is awesome. I really would like to draw one of his paintings for a project in advanced art soon!

A perfect day :)

This piece consists of a perfect day with beautiful scenery with a palm tree over the water and the sun setting over the mountain in the distant. This painting was really fun to paint because it took time painting each grid/square with different mixtures of colors being added and subtracted. I thought this piece turned out pretty good and i thought my goals of each different grounds were shown well with the palm tree being the foreground and the sunset/sky as the middle ground and mountains as the back ground. This painting had a a lot of values of color and many elements of art!

Principals of Design

Balance is the concept of visual equilibrium, and relates to our physical sense of balance.

Proportion refers to the relative size and scale of the various elements in a design.

Rhythm is created when one or more elements of design are used repeatedly to create a feeling of organized movement. Variety is essential to keep rhythm exciting and active, and moving the viewer around the artwork.  Rhythm creates a mood like music or dancing.

Unity is the feeling of harmony between all parts of the artwork creating a sense of completeness. Examples:
Regarded in this way, unity discusses the need to tie the various elements of a work of art together. Unity is a measure of how the elements of a page seem to fit together - to belong together. A unified work of art represents first a whole, then the sum of its parts.
Emphasis is the part of the design that catches the viewer’s attention. Usually the artist will make one area stand out by contrasting it with other areas. The area will be different in size, color, texture, shape, etc. Examples:A focal point draws your attention to the most important element on the page. There are several techniques used to emphasize the most important object on a page.

Elements of Art

Line- is a mark made by a tool - brush, pencil, stick, pen, etc. and is often defined as a moving dot. It can vary in width, direction, curvature, length, and even color. It is also an element of graphic expression that can lead the eye, define shape, develop symbols and patterns, and indicate different directions such as horizontal, oblique, and vertical.
Example: would be using them in abstract paintings and drawings and for grid drawings

Shape-is an area that is contained within an implied line, or is seen and identified because of color or value changes. Shapes have two dimensions, length and Width. The 2D external appearance and can be positive (area within a defined object) or negative (area around defined objects).
Examples: would be using it in abstract paintings and u have to use shape in clay units etc.

Form- Shape and form have the same qualities except shape is two dimensional and form is three dimensional; it describes volume and mass. Both may be organic, freeform or geometric, natural or man-made.
Example: You must use form to shape your project and you need to shape you line so all the elements fallow a sequence.

Color-is a result of reflection of light by a surface. The whiter the light, the more true the color will be. Hue, value, and intensity are the three main characteristics of color.
Example: Color to me is like the finishing touches on a masterpiece so color is the eye popper of the piece and the emotional feeling of the piece.

Value-The relative degree of light or dark, the characteristic of color determined by light or dark, or the quantity of light reflected by the color.
Example: is shading of the color to darker or lighter objects. Sorta helps with 3D objects

Texture- The surface character of a material that can be experienced through touch or the illusion of touch. Texture is produced by natural forces or through an artist’s manipulation of the art elements. (such as rough, smooth, furry, etc.)
Examples: is the feeling of the project it helps the painting look more realistic and common.

My Project Idea

I would like to paint a landscape picture by using the 3 grounds (background, foreground, and middle ground) to hang in my room. I am going to be using the grid method.
